Testimonials

We used Tammy for her Doula services and some pre-natal massage visits. She was an incredible support system throughout the pregnancy, both emotionally and physically. This was a second pregnancy for us but Tammy was still reminding us and teaching us about things we forgot from the first labor/delivery. She worked so well with the hospital staff and was terrific in helping out during labor without us having to ask for help. Her massage background was a lifesaver during the painful contractions and her expertise definitely contributed to a successful, natural and healthy childbirth. I would have more babies just to work with her as a Doula again. Any time a pregnant woman asks me about how to have a natural childbirth I tell them they need Doula Tammy.

Tammy is my massage therapist and Doula.  She is wonderful!  Her massages helped so much with my sciatica and helped me relax very well which is so hard to do especially later in pregnancy.  She gave me lots of advice and tips to help stay relaxed after the massage and many other pregnancy tips.  She has a wealth of knowledge to help answer all your questions.  Tammy has a way of comforting you, validating your thoughts and calming your concerns.  She was always there any time I needed her.

When it came time for the birth, Tammy was at my house quickly and was a wonderful support to me emotionally and physically.  We clicked very well and my husband and I couldn't have done it without her.  My husband "the sceptic" ... lol...  even tells everyone that she was very worth the money and would do it all over again!

Tammy goes above and beyond!  During the postpartum visit she was so helpful in making me a meal and even massaging my feet for me since they were still so swollen.  She is just wonderful!!!  Thank you so much Tammy!!!  We will definetly have you at the next one!

Pregnancy Massage

Tammy is probably about the best massage therapist I've ever been to and I've been to plenty.  She really knows her stuff.  You have to be so careful having a massage done while pregnant, but I felt totally confident with Tammy and her knowledge of the pregnant body.  She always seems to intuitivly knows exactly what hurts and how to relieve it   She even massaged my baby in the womb.  The aches and pains of pregnancy were much more manageable when I went to Tammy on a regular basis.  I plan on continuing to get massages and having her work on my rotator cuff which now hurts from carrying around the infant car seat.  She has also helped my husband's neck and low back pain better then any chiropractor.

Doula:

Tammy was my doula at my second homebirth.  I had not had a very good experience with the doula at my first birth so I was kind of skeptical about hiring another one.  I met with Tammy and was very impressed with all her knowledge about childbirth, numerous pain management techniques and her use of massage to help with contractions.  I was very worried about back labor as I suffered through that with the first birth.  I didn't have that problem with my second birth but I wasn't worried as I was sure Tammy could have helped me through it as she has with her other clients.  I knew right away that I was going to hire Tammy.  She has a very laid back and calming personality which I like.

Tammy and I met several times before the birth and I borrowed many books and videos from her.  On the big day...Tammy was quick to be at my side.  She was a huge comfort and seemed to know when I needed her help and when to just be quietly supportive.  She worked well with my midwives and husband.  I couldn't have had a better team.  Tammy gently suggested different positions, supported me and my husband (mentally and physically), helped with my 3 year old son when he woke up and cleaned up after wards.   She was absolutely wonderful.  I would recommend her doula and massage services 100% to anyone.

Tammy was my doula for my first birth experience 5 weeks ago.  I found her when I was looking for a doula with massage experience.  Throughout my pregnancy and during labor, I experienced a great deal of hip pain on one side.  The prenatal massages were awesome and I'm looking forward to my postnatal massage!  She was very successful in alleviating my hip pain during labor also.  She held up one of my legs for an hour, and whatever she did with it was wonderful.  She knew what to do throughout my labor to support me and my husband.  She showed my husband how to help me through labor, also.  After our son was born, we both commented on how glad we were that she was there for both of us.  I now tell everyone they should have a doula.  I was determined to have an unmedicated vaginal delivery, and I'm not sure I could have done it without her.  Labor pain is challenging enough, but when other pain (such as my hip pain) is present also, it is necessary to have someone who knows what they're doing help you through it.  Tammy was that person for me, and both my husband and I highly recommend her!!!

My baby had a breech presentation and I didn't want a C-Section.  Tammy sent me e-mails with suggestions on ways to try and turn the baby.  Dr. Martin from Bethany Women’s Health did a version @ 38w 3 or 4d (very late in the game).  After trying Webster and Moxibustion (Michelle Mancusio), pelvic tilts and headstands in the pool, I did the version.  It was the best decision I could have made for myself to have a natural birth.  The procedure was much less painful than I expected.  Minor discomfort at worst.  (Other women have different experiences, I’ve heard).  The worst part was the worry leading up to the procedure and having Tammy there really helped with that. She stayed with me and massaged my feet, used essential oils and played relaxing music. Also, I’d recommend scheduling for early in the a.m. since you can’t eat or drink after a certain point and I was starving by the time I could eat – around 2:30 p.m.  The procedure was quick.  They had me hooked up to monitors for about 45 mins. prior.  The doc came in and did an US to see the position of the baby.  They gave me a shot of a muscle relaxant.  Some women say it speeds their heart rate but I did not have this experience.  The doc came back about 15 mins. later and did another US.  He pushed a bit and I felt the baby move.  He looked on the US and pushed again with some fairly intense pressure.  I felt the baby shift past my right hip bone.  The whole version took less than 3 minutes.  Amazing.  I kept a girdle on (had to ask for it) for the rest of the next few days.  Will stayed in position nicely.  He was 10 days past his due date.  I attribute this to not being engaged early on.  If I had known earlier (or had my suspicions confirmed!), I would have tried this procedure earlier after the other options didn’t work. It’s totally worth the momentary discomfort to have a natural birth.  I had a very fast L&D-Tammy left right when I called her, but 20 minutes later I was pushing!  She got there right in time.  I am sure if I had been at home longer in labor, she would've been incredibly helpful.  She took some great photos too.

I first came to Tammy because I was having a lot of back pain during my pregnancy.  Stretching helped a little.  Not much relief and Tylenol not much help either.  Tammy helped me physically and mentally feel more relaxed! During my pregnancy, Tammy became certified as a Doula and I hired her right away.
I would definitely refer Tammy as a Doula. My experience with her was wonderful! She is on call the 2 weeks around your due date. I actually went into labor 3 weeks early but she still dropped what she was doing. I wasn't aware I was actually in labor and when I called her I was on my way to my doctor's office to get checked. She offered to take me to my appointment but my husband and I told her we would call if we needed her. Once my doctor said to go the hospital I called her and she actually beat me to the hospital. She offered to take me to the hospital too. She made herself available that whole time. During the delivery she was there using pressure points during contractions to help ease the pain since I was in back labor. It was so effective that I did not need an epidural. She also helped with massage in between contractions. She offered suggestions to my husband so he could help and be a part of the process without being lost (simple suggestions such as getting a cold wash cloth and wiping my forehead and getting me ice chips) so he felt useful. She also managed to snap pictures of us holding each other in between contractions, which we didn''t now about until after and are just treasures! She stayed after the delivery and helped me with getting my daughter to latch on since I am breastfeeding and stayed until we were comfortable and getting ready to move out of the delivery room and into our other room. She did also call the next few days to check on us all and see how we were doing and if we needed anything else. She is extremely attentive and made the experience great. Especially since this is our first child and neither one of us had our parents there and didn't know what to expect. I recommend her to every woman I know who is even thinking about getting pregnant. She was well worth the money!!

I originally came to Tammy to have a prenatal massage and manage pain caused by the pregnancy and tension caused by work related stress.

Prior to massage I had tried traditional medicine and medications such as ibuprofen, anxiety and depression medications, as well as chiropractic care. The traditional medicine only masked the symptoms, it did not offer any practical treatment that would make my symptoms go away. Chiropractic care was a step closer to practical treatment and prevention.

I have received many sessions of massage therapy over the years. It has has been a tremendous help to alleviate stress, release tension and toxins that would otherwise affect me physically in other ways. Massage helps me with tension headaches, chronic pain and my general emotional state. It helps to alleviate these symptoms make me feel healthier overall and not have to medicate myself to treat these symptoms.

This form of therapy has helped my overall general health in preventing what I consider my own ongoing chronic physical and mental health issues. I know it helps because when I don’t receive it my issues worsen and when I do, they are minimized and most often completely alleviated. Not only does massage treat current symptoms, it is also preventative when used regularly.

Then, I hired Tammy as my Doula:I searched for a doula for months until I found Tammy. I didn't feel a connection with any of the doulas I spoke with until I met Tammy. My first birth, six years ago, was natural and with the help of a doula who happened to be my sister-in-law. My first natural birth was a great experience and I was trying to find a doula for my second birth that would help me have the same great experience - one that was comfortable, relaxed, feeling totally supported and completely confident that I could accomplish my goal for a natural birth using the Bradley Method. I felt a connection with Tammy right away; she has a very calming and reassuring demeanor. I felt like I had known her for years. I was also very impressed with her massage therapy experience; something I knew was going to be critical in helping manage the pain during natural child birth.

After hiring Tammy, I am very happy to say that I had a wonderful natural childbirth experience. She was able to help me manage the pain with massage and acupressure techniques, and with words of support and encouragement. She helped me with monitoring each stage of birth and achieving my goal to stay home as long as possible –it was my preference to labor at home and only go to the hospital when it was time to deliver. I am only weeks past delivery and already looking forward to the next baby and birth – it was a great experience and will definitely ask Tammy to assist me again.

I used Tammy's pregnancy massage services.  I was at St. Joseph's in the High Risk and Antenatal Care on bed-rest with many health concerns/conditions and twins....not to mention stress! I had trouble finding someone not only Certified, but willing to work on me at high-risk. I was in so much pain from being in bed for so many months.  Tammy drove back and forth 3 days a week for 2 months just to help me!  She was very knowledgable, and I felt safe.  It was the only part of my hospital stay that I enjoyed and looked forward to.  I don't think I would've made it without her.

I found Tammy when I was looking for prenatal massage.  The massages (pre- & post-partum) are fantastic--she is obviously competent, caring, and really knows how to apply her skills and experience to assist you.  I did not end up choosing to use a doula for delivery, but Tammy was always forthcoming with useful and reassuring information whenever I had questions before and after our delivery.  I imagine she is wonderful to work with as a birth partner.
